We take time out from daily tasks and routine to sit quietly together. Zen meditation allows the mind to settle down and become still, learning to develop focus and clear-eyed acceptance of ourselves and others. The direction of our practice is to pay attention to the present moment and use this awareness and energy to help all beings. Please join us.

When you completely focus on whatever you are doing, wherever you are, both when meditating and in daily life, this is Zen.

If you want to get a feeling for how practicing Zen can help your life please read or listen to this poem entitled Hokusai Says by the late Roger Keyes, Ph.D. Roger was a long-time Zen practitioner and co-founder of York Zen. He is internationally recognized as an expert on Japanese woodblock prints, especially those by Hokusai. Hokusai is best known for his print The Great Wave.
